Most people carry a quiet belief that if others really saw them, they wouldn't stay — so they build disguises that function like fig leaves: perfectionism, busyness, cynicism, victimhood. Pastor Ben Moore traces this pattern back to Genesis 3:7, where Adam and Eve's first instinct after sin was to hide rather than to be found, and to Jeremiah 17:9's warning that the heart deceives even itself, renaming sin so the conscience stays quiet. The message contrasts looping self-analysis with the specific, healing invitation of Psalm 139:23–24 ("search me, God, and know my heart"), and closes with John 4's woman at the well — a picture of being fully known that produces relief rather than shame.
